International development research carried out in the UK crosses disciplinary boundaries easily, and has a strong impact around the world, according to a report drawing on Research Excellence Framework case studies.

The results of a study on the impact of development research carried out by four researchers at King’s College London were published on 21 May in a report commissioned by the UK Collaborative on Development Sciences (UKCDS), a group of 14 government departments and research funders.

The study, part of a wider analysis of the impact sections of the 6,679 non-redacted case studies submitted to the REF, looked specifically at the impact of 287 case studies that were relevant to international development.
