The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council has launched an £8 million research centre for innovative manufacturing in advanced metrology.
The EPSRC said research at the centre would lead to a “factory on a machine”. Machine tools would become much more accurate, allowing “enormous gains in productivity”, said a council statement.
