The Natural Environment Research Council has announced that it will close its small grants scheme following a final call on 1 September but increase funding for its consortium grants scheme starting 2012.
The small grants scheme allocates funding for small projects such as proof-of-concept studies and pump-priming exercises, with a maximum grant sum of £65,000.
