Avoid ‘quick-wins’ flood funding approach, says strategy

It is important to maintain “less mature” research areas in flood and coastal erosion risk management research (FCERM) as funding cuts bite, a research strategy has recommended.

The strategy, covering the period until 2030, was published on 18 January by the cross-council programme Living With Environmental Change. It warns that as funding for the field is likely to be “substantially reduced” in the current economic climate, it is important not to focus too much on “quick-wins” area.
