High-security animal virus laboratory opens

The £10 million Institute of Animal Health laboratory at Pirbright, Surrey, for research into serious viral livestock diseases has been completed.

Funded jointly by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the rebuilt facility will enable Pirbright staff to continue their work on foot-and-mouth disease and other economically important conditions.
