Welsh universities increase council income while UK slides

Welsh universities saw their research council income grow by just 1.2 per cent in 2010-11, down from 3 per cent the year before. However, they outperformed the rest of the UK—excluding the golden triangle—on growth.

According to the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales’s 2011-12 annual report, universities in Wales have seen their research council income grow progressively more slowly over the past three years.
