£5m boost for biosciences data resource development

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council has announced £5.5 million funding for ten projects to develop and maintain databases, software tools and libraries for bioscientists.

Three of the awards, provided by the Bioinformatics and Biological Resources fund, go to researchers at the EMBL European Bioinformatics Institute to create databases. A further award is to a collaboration with this institution and the University of Edinburgh to develop methods of analysing genome sequencing data.
