NERC outlines changes to its doctoral training partnerships

The Natural Environment Research Council has launched a call for applications from institutions wishing to establish Doctoral Training Partnerships.

The 1 November announcement follows NERC’s review into the way it allocates PhD studentships, published in January. This concluded that studentships should be awarded on the basis of training quality, rather than the practise whereby an algorithm influences the amount of NERC funding a particular institution receives. NERC is the fifth research council to make such changes.
