The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council is investing £12.9 million in the UK Catalysis Hub, based at Harwell in Oxfordshire.
The work on catalysts, which speed up chemical reactions, aims to generate more sustainable energy through environmental applications and product synthesis.
The hub will bring together scientists and engineers from over 30 universities.
