International recognition for land use programme director

Philip Lowe, director of the cross-research council Rural Economy and Land Use programme, has been awarded the Bertebos Prize by the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Food.

The RELU programme is based at the University of Newcastle and researches problems in rural areas. It is a collaboration between the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the Economic and Social Research Council, and the Natural Environment Research Council.
