Michael Sterling will remain chairman of the Science and Technology Facilities Council for another four years, science minister David Willetts has confirmed.
Sterling, a former vice-chancellor of the University of Birmingham, was appointed chairman in 2009. The reappointment is from 1 August this year to 31 July 2017.
He will be paid £24,645 for 36 days per year.
