MRC employs most research council staff

Questions in the House of Commons from two MPs on 23 and 24 January have elicited details of the number of staff employed by the seven research councils.

The replies show that the Medical Research Council employs 4,499 staff, while the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council employs 1688–304 in the Swindon office.

The Natural Environment Research Council employs 2,589 staff, 294 of whom are at the Swindon office.
