Research Councils UK has announced 12 winning projects in its national School-University Partnerships Initiative.
The three-year projects aim to attract more young people to science through measures such as offering opportunities to engage directly with researchers.
For example, Imperial College London will give school students practical lessons in a purpose-built laboratory.
