AHRC finds historians to help BBC with WWI anniversary coverage

The Arts and Humanities Research Council has selected 21 researchers to advise BBC producers and reporters on the corporation’s commemorative coverage of the first world war.

The academics, including two PhD students, will be funded by the AHRC to work with broadcast journalists across the BBC regions in England to find and select local stories related to the first world war.

The project aims to tell 1,400 stories on BBC regional TV and local radio, and in national programmes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland during 2014 to mark the centenary of the start of the war.
