MRC gives medical charities a leg-up into research evaluation

The Medical Research Council is to spend up to £1 million over the next three years on helping medical research charities use an online research outcomes system.

The money will be made available to members of the Association of Medical Research Charities to spend on using the Researchfish system, which is operated by a company called Researchfish and was originally developed from the MRC’s e-Val system. It enables funders to track researchers’ output. Researchfish is already used by 17 funders, including Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation.

Under the £1m agreement between MRC and AMRC, announced on 13 February, up to 121 small and medium-sized charities will be eligible to use Researchfish.
