Universities minister David Willetts has announced the reappointments of biologist Tom Blundell and the former executive director of Citibank Alan Gillespie as chairmen of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Economic and Social Research Council respectively.
Blundell began as BBSRC chairman in July 2009, and has been appointed for a further two years to the end of June 2015.
Gillespie, who took up the ESRC chairmanship in June 2009, has been appointed for a further four years, until June 2017.
