Research councils’ cell therapy initiative takes shape

The UK Regenerative Medicine Platform has published an update on the progress it has made in establishing research hubs and awarding its first grants.

The RMP says in its first annual report that it has established five hubs over the past year, with the first becoming functional in September 2013 and the final hub being established in March 2014.

The hubs have the following distinct but interlinked themes: cell behaviour, differentiation and manufacturing; engineering and exploiting the stem cell niche; safety and efficacy, focusing on imaging technologies; acellular approaches for therapeutic delivery; and immunomodulation.
