New generation gets ready to take to the airwaves

The Arts and Humanities Research Council has announced its New Generation Thinkers for the forthcoming year. The winning early-career researchers will work with the BBC to develop their ideas for radio and television broadcasts.

The ten winners, who were announced on 24 May at the Hay Festival, include Joe Moshenka, at the University of Cambridge, who has researched the philosophical history of tickling, and Sandeep Parmar at the University of Liverpool, who is writing a novel about the green revolution in India.

The winners will spend a year working on programme ideas with BBC Radio 3 and BBC Arts Online. They will make their debut appearance on Radio 3’s Free Thinking programme on 28 May.
