Imran Khan, the chief executive of the British Science Association, is one of five people to have joined the council of the Natural Environment Research Council in the latest round of appointments.
The other new members, who will take up their roles on 1 August, are: Juliet Davenport, the chief executive of Good Energy; Leslie Heasman, the managing director of the environmental advisory group MJCA; Guy Orpen, the deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Bristol; and Lesley Yellowlees, the vice-principal of the University of Edinburgh.
NERC also confirmed that the Liberal Democrat peer Phil Willis and the University College London professor Georgina Mace have been reappointed.
