The Medical Research Council has named the winners of funding from three initiatives for accelerating the development of innovative medical research at UK universities.
The recipients of the three funding schemes were announced by universities and science minister Jo Johnson at the University of Birmingham on 15 February.
The largest funding scheme is the Confidence in Concept scheme, which saw £11.6m shared between 21 UK universities. The Confidence in Concept scheme has been running since 2013 and is designed to help move basic research from the lab into the clinic.
