Research Councils UK has said that it hopes to make better funding decisions with the help of a high-level mapping group that will analyse research activity across the country.
A report published by RCUK on 3 February says that the high-level landscape-mapping group will develop a five-year strategy to create a “comprehensive and reliable picture of the whole R&D landscape in the UK”.
This, it says, will inform future strategic decision making and help the UK to maintain and develop its excellence in research. The UK Knowledge and Research Landscape: A report on available resources is the first step towards this goal, the group says.
