The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council will modify the conditions of its First Grants scheme from July, its governing body has decided.
The scheme aims to support early-career researchers through grants of up to £125,000, of which the EPSRC contributes £100,000.
According to a statement on 1 June, the scheme will be revised to recognise the different needs of each of the research areas it supports.
