Applicants for Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council grants and fellowships are being encouraged to make use of preprints in their applications.

The BBSRC says it wants to encourage applicants to share their pre-peer-review manuscripts via preprint servers, repositories and other dedicated services.

In a press release published on 12 June, the council said that citations in BBSRC applications should include a personal identifier and the content should be no more than five years old. Exceptions to this can be made if the applicant has taken a career break.
