Statistics authority steps away from big-data network

The Economic and Social Research Council has appointed an advisory board for the Administrative Data Research Network, following the passing of the Digital Economy Act earlier this year.

The network, hosted by the UKSA, provides independent strategic guidance to the ESRC, assurance to parliament and gives researchers access to linked, de-identified administrative data in a secure environment.

It was established following a 2012 report that highlighted the need to use administrative data more effectively in research across the UK to support public policy.
