What Works Centre to receive further funding

The Economic and Social Research Council has announced an additional £2.5 million in funding for the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth, which will enable the project to continue operating until February 2019.

A partnership between London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the Centre for Cities think tank and civil engineering and planning consultancy Arup, the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth was set up in October 2013. It is part of the What Works Network, which aims to improve the way government uses evidence to develop policy.

Over the past four years, it has been examining the effectiveness of policy interventions aimed at improving the growth of local areas in fields such as employment training, innovation and transport.
