NERC to fund training aligned with industrial strategy

The Natural Environment Research Council is seeking bids from universities and research organisations for up £100,000 to create and host training courses to develop researchers' skills in line with the UK’s industrial strategy.

The Industrial Strategy Training Course initiative has been llaunched by NERC with funding from the National Productivity Investment Fund, a £23-billion pot announced in the autumn statement that includes funding for skills.

The aim of the training is to equip PhD students and early-career researchers with the necessary skills to fulfil the goals of the UK government’s industrial strategy, NERC said. Courses must focus on areas within the council’s remit that are highlighted in the strategy, such as clean energy.
