AHRC partners with Smithsonian to enhance digital research

The Arts and Humanities Research Council has announced a partnership with the Smithsonian Institution in the United States to enhance digital research skills and scholarship in museums.

Starting in spring 2018, the two institutions will organise a series of workshops, funded fellowships and networking awards at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History for academics and cultural institutions on both sides of the Atlantic.

The programme of events will encourage academics to develop innovative ways to use digital technology for research in museums and galleries, and establish pilot projects to develop these ideas. It will look at how digital technologies can be used in areas such as data analysis, museum curation, audience engagement, and enhanced access to museum and archival collections, the AHRC said in a statement.
