The Computational Science Centre for Research Communities aims to improve scientific research software used by universities and industry.
The centre will be created with funding from four of the seven research councils: the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), which will house it; the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council; the Medical Research Council; and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. It was launched on 7 September.
The centre will cost £14 million over five years. Barbara Montanari, director of the centre, told Research Fortnight that the amount of funding allocated by each research council was to remain private.
