NERC to invest £12m in climate sensitivity research

The Natural Environmental Research Council is to set up a large-scale research programme worth £12 million to reduce uncertainties in climate models due to clouds.

The research programme was one of three themes reviewed by the council’s Strategic Programme Advisory Group following a call for ideas for strategic research.

None of the other two proposed programmes—plastics in the environment and the exploration of deep-ocean highways—were selected for funding.
