UK Research and Innovation is to allocate £55 million to three new bioscience initiatives, including the British contribution to a global project that aims to map every type of cell in the body.
The initiatives are part of the UKRI Strategic Priorities Fund, which supports interdisciplinary R&D projects and aims to ensure that research council spending is linked to government priorities.
“This investment will bring together world-leading UK researchers from across disciplines to target challenges that are important for health and wellbeing,” said UKRI chief executive Mark Walport.
