Research councils publish gender pay gap data

Innovate UK is to conduct an equal pay audit after reporting that median salaries for men at the innovation agency were 36 per cent higher than those for women in 2017-18.

Figures published on 26 March show that Innovate UK has the greatest median gender pay disparity of the eight bodies that will become part of UK Research and Innovation on 1 April.

Across all areas of the UK economy, the median pay gap between men and women is 18.4 per cent, according to the Office for National Statistics. Businesses and public bodies with 250 or more employees must publish information on their gender pay gaps by the end of March.
