Social-science centres get £2m to focus on industrial strategy

The government has allocated £2 million to four social-science centres to fund research supporting the implementation of the industrial strategy.

The new funding will pay for a joint research programme between the Centre for Economic Performance, the Enterprise Research Centre, the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth and the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

The four centres, which are funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, will conduct synthetic reviews, short-term research projects and data collection aimed at helping the government to achieve four goals of its industrial strategy.
