Nine more ESRC centres win transition funding

The Economic and Social Research Council has awarded almost £10.5 million in transition funding to nine research centres, to help them become self-sustainable in the long term.

The centres have committed to match the ESRC grants with a total of £19.7m in co-funding, the ESRC said on 18 September.

The awards of transistion funding follow a shift in policy at the ESRC, allowing research centres to apply for funding to tide them over after their initial grants expire and while they are seeking sustainable funding for the future.
