NERC returns to ‘simpler’ advisory structure

The Natural Environment Research Council is changing how it takes advice from researchers, in a move that one former adviser says should improve and streamline the process.

NERC announced on 20 February that it is shaking up its advisory structure to ensure its leaders have quicker access to a broader pool of expertise.

Robyn Thomas, the council’s associate director of operations and research careers, said the new structure “is designed to be more agile and more flexible”.
