Top funders in the UK have joined forces with the African Academy of Sciences to launch a bespoke research management programme in the continent.
The programme, called the Research Management Programme in Africa, aims to build skills and free up time for African researchers. Contributing funders include the AAS, the umbrella funding agency UK Research and Innovation, the Department for International Development, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Royal Society and the Wellcome Trust.
Andrew Thompson, UKRI executive champion for international, said the programme would enhance the impact of current Global Challenges Research Fund investments and promote further collaboration between UK and African universities.
