The latest round of Ernest Rutherford Fellowships—which aim to attract and retain highly skilled researchers—will see nine physicists from all over the globe develop independent research programmes in the UK.
The nine fellows, announced by the Science and Technology Facilities Council on 3 April, will be based at universities across the UK for five years and will study topics ranging from sub-atomic particles to ancient galaxies.
With the UK increasingly looking to strengthen overseas ties and keep talented researchers from fleeing as Brexit looms, schemes such at the Rutherford fellowships are attracting more and more attention.
