Cash injection for UK’s health innovation research

The UK government is injecting £133 million into a series of healthcare innovation projects, including work on artificial intelligence and genomics.

The funding, announced on 9 September, will see UK Research and Innovation distribute £69.5m to four projects aimed at healthier ageing.

The largest beneficiary is the Medical Research Council’s Nucleic Acid Therapy Accelerator, which will receive £30m over four years for research on precision genomic medicines.
