Two UK research councils have teamed up with a group of US organisations to collaborate on an assessment of the role of digital scholarship in changing museums and other cultural institutions.
The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) announced on 18 September that it was working with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council in the project aimed at “reimagining the future of the world’s leading cultural institutions”. Their US partners include the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Science Foundation, the Smithsonian Institution and the Library of Congress.
The planned activities began with a workshop in Washington DC on 18-19 September, in which experts from academia and cultural institutions examined the impact digital technologies are having on museums and related institutions.
