BBSRC spinouts raise more than £1.3 billion in private investment

Researchers supported by the funder helped establish 234 spinout companies between 2004 and 2018

Scientists funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council have raised more than £1.3 billion in private investment for spinout activities, a report has found.

According to the BBSRC report, ‘Creating spinouts from biotechnology’, researchers supported by the funder helped establish 234 spinout companies between 2004 and 2018, 163 of which are still active.
