UKRI provides funding for community and citizen science

Funding agency puts £1.4 million into projects that include the public in the research process

UKRI Research and Innovation has announced funding for 53 projects which will enable members of the public to play an active role in research.

The scheme, first announced by UKRI in 2019, is designed to involve the public in decision-making about research by focusing on issues that affect their lives. The funder says it is part of a “new approach and greater investment in public engagement” and will target communities who would not normally engage with research and innovation.
