Classics and archaeology research most at risk from Brexit

IT, media studies, law, and philosophy also receive over quarter of funding from EU

Academics have reiterated their concerns that several research fields and universities could be disproportionately affected if the government does not agree to full association with the EU’s Horizon Europe research programme.

Fields including archaeology, classics and software engineering receive 30 per cent, or more, of their funding from EU government bodies—access that could be cut off at the start of 2021 unless a trade deal between the UK and EU is agreed by then.
