R&D sector hopeful over full association of EU programme despite vague statements from government

UK participation in the European Union’s R&D programmes has been thrown into sharp focus by the first round of talks on a UK-EU trade deal.

“These are going to be tough negotiations,” Number 10 said on 5 March, at the end of the first four days of talks led by David Frost and Michel Barnier (pictured), as mixed messaging on its approach to Horizon Europe split reactions from the sector.
