UKRI joins universities in sending staff home

Move comes after prime minister urges end to all ‘non-essential’ face-to-face contact

UK Research and Innovation has joined universities and research organisations across the world in telling its staff to work from home to avoid the coronavirus.

At 10:15pm on 16 March, the chief executive of the government funding agency Mark Walport (pictured) wrote to staff saying “we would like all staff, where possible, to work from home until further notice”.
