UKRI ‘still waiting on funding allocation for next financial year’

‘Surprising’ revelation comes as the funder expects ‘inevitable disruption’ caused from Covid-19

UK Research and Innovation has still not received its allocation from the government for the next financial year, according to its chief executive Mark Walport.

“I do not know what our funding envelope is for the coming year yet,” Walport told the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee on 18 March. “We are in active discussions with BEIS [the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy] and obviously we are keen to know the answer to that.”
