UKRI chief executive responds to researchers’ Covid-19 concerns

Ottoline Leyser defends allocation of resources during pandemic and says UKRI is reviewing call deadlines

The chief executive of UK Research and Innovation has responded to concerns about tight funding deadlines, the Research Excellence Framework and the funder’s support for PhD students during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an update published on UKRI’s website on 13 January, Ottoline Leyser said the research and innovation community had responded “superbly to the pandemic” over the last year.
