UKRI awards £18m to AI fellows to tackle societal challenges

    

Fellowships aim to have “transformative effect on international AI research and innovation landscape”

The national funding agency UK Research and Innovation has announced the first Turing Artificial Intelligence World-Leading Researcher Fellows.

The fellowships, which are backed by £18 million government investment, with a further £15.7m from industry collaborators, were awarded to five academics whose research aims to have a “transformative effect on the international AI research and innovation landscape by tackling some of the fundamental challenges in the field”.
