Arma 2022: AHRC chair warns of “problems” ahead due to reduced staff during systems revamp

National funder UK Research and Innovation is facing “significant” pressure to reduce staff numbers and costs at a time of major change, one of the organisation’s senior leaders has said.

Christopher Smith, chair of the Arts and Humanities Research Council, said UKRI is facing staffing cuts while it is revamping its systems and harmonising its business processes, and might have to process more money if the UK does not associate to EU R&D schemes.
