Official says funder is conducting review of peer review to understand impact on broader system

A top official at UK Research and Innovation has said the national research funder does not “hold all the levers” for making structural changes to improve research careers.

Melanie Welham—who became UKRI’s people, culture and talent champion in 2021—said the agency is looking at how it could influence the environment in which researchers work.
