REF impact case study analysis shows benefits of UK research and innovation

Research by UK universities has had a “significant and diverse societal impact” on the nation, according to an analysis of submissions to the 2021 Research Excellence Framework.

Published by Rand Europe on 9 November, the report assessed impact case studies submitted to the REF by participating institutions. The economic and social impact of UK research is diverse, it says, and spans 79 “unique impact topics” including cancer diagnostics and therapy, cybersecurity and language.
