UK Research and Innovation targeting a 17 per cent reduction in staff numbers by 2025

Staffing cuts at UK Research and Innovation will affect one in six positions at the national funding agency by 2025, Research Professional News has learned.

The agency has been under pressure to reduce headcount in the wake of an independent review in 2022 by former Cardiff University vice-chancellor David Grant, who identified inefficiencies and a “striking” increase in staff in UKRI’s central corporate hub.
